Vest Tank operated a tank facility across the fjord from the Mongstad refinery in Norway. The explosion and the subsequent fire that took place on the 24th of May 2007, caused severe damage to the facility. GexCon investigated the accident for the Hordaland Police District, the National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos) and the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB), and issued a report in October 2007.
