Joint Industry Project
"FLACS 2011 and beyond"
Recently a three year Joint Industry Project (JIP) project was launched to boost the further development of the CFD-code FLACS.
The project started officially on 1 October 2009. The sponsors of the project have a unique opportunity to influence the priorities for the development work, and at the same time take active part in the research and development activities. GexCon's intention is to make the JIP an attractive meeting place for safety engineers and research scientists from the participating organisations.
The project is organised in three main work packages:
- A: Enhanced performance (fundamental improvements enhancing the performance of FLACS including parallelisation of solvers)
- B: Release and dispersion modelling (ambition is to establish FLACS as the preferred tool for simulating a broad range of release and dispersion scenarios)
- C: Explosion consolidation (further validation and improved modelling of combustion)
The JIP is sponsored by Statoil, ExxonMobil, Total and IRSN.
It is however still possible for other sponsors to join the project.
