Dr. Franz Zdravistch delivered the keynote speech on the afternoon of Oct 19 with the title “Basics of Gas Explosion”. The main contents include the understanding of toxic flammable gas leakage, fire and explosion phenomena, the model used in the numerical calculation process, and the introduction of the fire explosion simulation software FLACS which have been applied in a large number of worldwide industrial analysis projects and verified by extensive practice verification over the past 30 years combining small, medium and large scale explosion experiments respectively.

On Oct 20, four parallel sessions were held simultaneously, including safety production and emergency management, hazardous chemicals safety supervision and emergency management, emergency disaster prevention and urban public safety, public safety, and emergency management construction and national emergency education. A total of 50 experts had reported in the four parallel sessions.

Among them, in the second session of the “Hazardous Chemicals Safety Supervision and Emergency Management”, Sinopec Engineering Incorporation and other well-known domestic companies presented the reports based on FLACS, such as:

  • “Application of 3D Simulation Software FLACS in Hydrogen Detector Arrangement”
  • “Impact Analysis of Vapor Cloud Explosion in the Isopropanol Workshop on Central Control Room”
  • “Scenario Construction of Gas Pipeline Accident and Emergency”
  • “Study on Major Risk Prevention and Disaster Response Based on the ‘Scenario-Response’ Model”
  • ” Quantitative Risk Assessment Study on Offshore Drilling Platform Based on FLACS”
  • “Research on Gas Detector Layout Optimization Based on CFD Leak Dispersion Simulation”
  • and many more.

The participants carried on a warm academic exchange on the contents of the report, shared valuable experience in practical applications, and fully affirmed the importance of FLACS software in the field of hazardous chemicals safety supervision and emergency management.
