Gexcon were initially instructed to provide support with the clients DSEAR compliance requirements during the final phase of development and installation of a new LNG storage facility. However, following issues with their COMAH submission it was clear that further assistance would be required.
A range of process safety services including CFD modelling, were applied to review the facility design by considering a range of of release scenarios including gas dispersion, jet fires and liquid pooling using our flagship consequence modelling tool, FLACS-CFD.
Gexcon assumed the role of managing all aspects of the clients process safety requirements including the development of a revised COMAH Safety Report.
By applying a thorough and systematic approach, opportunities for additional risk reduction were identified and evaluated during construction, allowing changes to be implemented whilst minimising
cost and disruption and most importantly, ensuring the safety of the facility going into operation.
