On Tuesday (05/03/2019), Mr. Sturle Harald Pedersen, President & Global CEO of Gexcon, visited Dalian Maritime University (DMU) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mr. Lin Yejin, Dean of Marine Engineering College. The exchange conference is held in the meeting room with the teacher representatives.
The MoU is to hold joint international training courses about fire and explosion safety and to apply for international Joint Industry Projects (JIPs). Gexcon provides technical consultation and information sharing for the college. The parties will hold a regular meeting on explosion risk assessment and have international exchanges and cooperation as agreed.
Mr. Lin Yejin gave a brief introduction to the basic situation of the school and college. He pointed out that issues in the related fields of ship safety have attracted more attention from the international community. The cooperation with Gexcon AS will not only further improve the knowledge of undergraduate courses in marine engineering but also promote the development of marine safety engineering in DMU. It is helpful to strengthen the international exchanges and cooperation between the college, DMU and related universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises in Norway.
In recent years, Gexcon has held a number of academic discussions with relevant universities around the world. Mr. Sturle Harald Pedersen has expressed confidence in the cooperation between both parties. “We look forward to supporting DMU in Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) of fire and explosion on offshore equipment. There has been a change in the requirements for QRA in China. Both parties will carry out further and comprehensive cooperation and exchanges.”
