When performing a Facility Siting Study, there are instances where the results of a consequence-based approach would require extensive mitigations strategies to comply with the appropriate criteria.
In those cases, a more detailed approach is required. Some companies adopt a risk-based or QRA approach; however, without clearly defined risk criteria, the analysis might result in complex and expensive building retrofits.
In this webinar, we will present an alternative method that includes a greater level of detail to generate additional value when performing siting studies. Although most of the current facility siting studies are carried with empirical tools, 2D calculations (FLACS-EFFECTS) can be linked with 3D analysis (FLACS-CFD) to determine a more realistic impact representation in order to comply with API 752/753.
In these situations, CFD can be used to refine existing calculations and reassess impact zones to potentially reduce or eliminate expensive and complex retrofit requirements to some buildings.
