Webinar: Ignition hazard analysis and the hidden threats posed by mechanical equipment handling bulk solids
June 24, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm CEST
This webinar is the fourth session from a series of dust explosion safety webinars.
1st session: Fundamentals of fire and explosion from handling bulk solids
2nd session: Dust hazard analysis and prevention, the hierarchy of controls and practical implementation
3rd session: How to properly design your dust explosion protective systems
About The Webinar
This webinar highlights the need to use approved equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres when handling bulk solids.
In Europe, this includes non-electrical equipment. The first step for non-electrical equipment to be approved is the performance of a so-called ignition hazard analysis (IHA).
During the webinar, you will learn about the importance of thoroughly performing IHA, including the following points.
- The process for performing an ignition hazard analysis.
- Background information regarding various ignition sources.
- Examples of how mechanical equipment has become an ignition source while handling bulk solids.
About The Speaker
Dr. Kees Van Wingerden
Dr. Kees holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bergen, Norway, and an MSc from the Delft University of Netherlands. He has 44 years of experience related to gas and dust explosions. He has also been involved in numerous accident investigations. He is heavily involved in standardization work and has written numerous articles on explosion safety. At the 16th International Loss Prevention Symposium 2019, Dr. Kees received an award for outstanding contribution to the advancement of process safety from the European Process Safety Centre (EPSC).
