In this presentation, Gexcon explains the validation methodology within FLACS and introduces the new validation GUI. The presentation also covers perspectives on the impact of validations on probabilistic risk analysis, specifically addressing how validation findings can be utilised to incorporate uncertainty into probabilistic risk assessments.

About the speaker

Lorenzo Mauri (Gexcon)

Lorenzo Mauri, with a robust foundation in Environmental Engineering, boasts over 15 years of experience in developing and applying simulation engines for gas dispersion and consequence analysis. His research spans atmospheric and multiphase flows to gas explosions. At Gexcon, Lorenzo’s expertise extends to software development and has notably advanced FLACS-CFD’s capabilities, including the Ewan and Moodie release model and the Multiphase Drift Flux solver. His recent work includes authoring four peer-reviewed journal publications and contributing to the scientific committee of the International Conference on Hydrogen Safety – 2021. Lorenzo has been a pivotal member of Gexcon for 8 years, focusing on FLACS-CFD for consequence analysis and dispersion modelling.
