Webinar: What’s New with FLACS-CFD?

This webinar introduces the updated software and gave an overview of the following key features: 1) improved CAD import; 2) access to the DIPPR database - access to 2,000 new chemicals; 3) new steady-state solver; and 4) improved visualization in Flowvis.

Webinar: Introduction to Shell FRED 2020

This webinar discusses the software’s new, intuitive modernized interface which will enable users to rapidly understand a broad range of consequence predictions, complemented by specialized models for specific requirements.

Webinar: Buncefield – 15 Years On: Advancements in the Predictive Aspects of COMAH

We discuss the current techniques applied in the predictive aspects of COMAH and the limitations associated with these widely used methods. We aim to provide a better understanding of when and where advanced modelling techniques should be applied and demonstrate the significance this has, not only in terms of consequence assessment but also with regards to safer facility design and emergency response.

Webinar: How to Simplify your Safety Studies Using EFFECTS’s Combined Models

In this webinar, we provide an overview of the combined models within EFFECTS and show the software's ease of use in performing consequence analyses. We also discuss a summary of the discharge and dispersion models with an easy and quick option to determine accidental releases' impact.

Panel Debate: Hydrogen Safety Challenges for the Energy Transition

The main discussion points at this panel debate are as follows: 1) perceptions within the hydrogen industry around safety with comparison to other renewables; 2) the transition from industrial use of hydrogen to public use of hydrogen; 3) the rapid pace of change and development in equipment used for hydrogen system; and 4) regulatory hurdles and variations between regions.

Webinar: Unraveling the Mysteries of Ammonium Nitrate Detonations

This webinar discusses AN incidents in Beirut, Lebanon, Tianjin, China, and West Texas, as well as lessons learned to avoid such incidents in the future. All these events involved unique conditions necessary to turn the relatively stable oxidizer ammonium nitrate into a detonating explosive.

FLUG Week 2021

Online

We are pleased to invite you to join industry experts for a week of online seminars and insights about FLACS-CFD at the FLUG Week 2021.

DDT Evaluation with FLACS – FLUG Week 2021

Online

Gexcon’s recommendation of DpDx for DDT occurrence along with BakerRisk’s identification of DDT- and deflagration-regime as a function of flame Mach No. and normalized flame travel distance, would be used to evaluate DDT in elongated vapor clouds.

Advanced dispersion modelling of hydrogen cyanide in a closed environment – FLUG Week 2021

Online

Previous simplistic modelling carried out by the client estimated a situation that would be intolerable for the personnel in the area considering the high toxicity of HCN at low concentrations. A detailed ventilation and dispersion modelling study was conducted for the area in order to provide a more realistic release and dispersion conditions.

Hydrogen Hazards – Do you know how to evaluate, manage and mitigate risk?

Online

This webinar covers the basic fire and explosion characteristics of hydrogen, an overview of the analysis techniques that can be used to understand the hazards associated with a particular application, and provide some mitigation options to ensure the safe deployment of hydrogen technologies.
